Local Music: The Project

March 10, 2011

Working as a group on the Local Music project has offered me the opportunity to explor several of the many processes that journalists work through.

From conducting interviews and physically searching for information to doing online research, the initial tasks involved in the project are numerous.

Something that I think separates our Local Music group from the others in class is that our individual members are each doing their own research.

Indeed, at this point, we are all fulfilling similar roles:

  • Gathering videos of live performances
  • Researching various venues
  • Interviewing venue owners and artists
  • Collecting URLs for sites of the artists and groups, such as Twitter and Facebook

I’m hoping to take a more direct role in the group as an editor for our writing, a good source for our videos, and a provider for interviews and audio clips from the various artists we incorporate within our work.
